ABS Breeding at Ganga Kaveri in India

Ganga Kaveri is an important company in India, with products including Cotton, Maize, Wheats, Sunflowers and Pearl millet.  Ganga Kaveri started with ABS Breeding almost a year ago at their Research & Development Department for its plant breeding programs. The choice of ABS Breeding as a replacement of Excel was based on the good references they heard about the software. The most important argument for Ganga Kaveri’s head of R&D Mr. Sai Murali to choose ABS was its track & trace option. “Another very import advantage for Ganga Kaveri is the improvement in the uniform way of working”, Mr. Sai Murali explains. “Every user knows what and how their colleagues are working”.

Every user works in the same database, though they can have different user interfaces and “presets” for different tasks in the breeding process. Ganga Kaveri is happy that ABS Breeding is so user-friendly.

It is easy to learn and integrate in the daily workflows.

In the implementation phase Ganga Kaveri concluded that ABS consultants do know the business and were able to change their way of working into a technical high standard process. In its first season the Ganga Kaveri breeders will use both the old system and ABS Breeding to be sure all data will be captured. Next year all activities will be administered and monitored in ABS Breeding.

What’s new in ABS Seed

In each new ABS version we introduce new improvements, new functionality and changes for a better use of our software. Each new version is provided with ‘Release notes’, which you can find on the ABS Service Desk. The latest ABS version is 11.10. Below you find some improvements in the latest ABS versions:

Machine settings

It’s now possible to optimize quality against the speed of your seed conveyor or your sieving size.

Quotation process

We have improved the logic of the ‘Quotations’-process. You can now track & trace on your quotations compared to the actual sales.

IPM and Indian Seed Congress

For the first time ABS joined the IPM as an exhibitor. The IPM is one of Europe’s largest flower and plants trade fairs for horticulture, which takes place in Essen, Germany.

The most important reason for joining this fair is the presence of our clients and to promote our software solutions. We were pleased to meet our clients. Our director Wouter van Stuyvesant Meijen and Mr. Arnaud Delbard took the time to catch up.

It was very busy at our booth and we were able to attract potential clients to show them our ABS Breeding presentation.

If you have missed the IPM and you want to see our presentation as well, please use our request demo button at the website www.agrosolutions.nl. The Indian Seed Congress was this year in New Delhi. The seed congress was visited by a lot of Indian seed companies. At the booth of Agro Business Solutions the ABS Seed presentation was given at a regular base. The highlight in the presentation was the Seed Production Planning.

Here we showed the quality app and the new mobile solutions which are in development at the ABS booth.

Guest lecture at the university in Beauvais, France: UniLaSalle

March 10 ABS will hosted a guest lecture at the university in Beauvais, France: UniLaSalle, International Sustainable Agribusiness and Food Engineering.

This international college educates its students in Breeding Technologies. Agro Business Solutions is invited to teach the students how to administrate their breeding activities in a very user-friendly and thorough way in ABS Breeding.

After the presentation and demonstration of the software, the students can practice on the software itself. They will add new plants in the software and will create crossings. After the crossing is done, the students have to allocate the off-spring to a certain field. Then they are allowed to define field tests with all different properties and thereafter actually score those properties in ABS Breeding.

ABS is happy to support UniLaSalle and teach these breeders of the future.
